Experience
Essential
At least 5 years experience in a Finance Director role or senior finance role with full budgetary control and finance responsibility
Understanding of Corporate Governance in a non-government organisation
Desirable
Experience and understanding of working with government funding and an understanding of the opportunities and constraints this brings
Skills
Takes time to build relationships with key funders
Ensures a robustness of systems in the way funds are managed at all levels
The ability to inspire the utmost confidence in the management information provided to WRAP’s Board and its Government funders
Clarifies the future direction for the finance and administration staff in terms that makes sense, constructing solutions jointly with the team and building on the ideas of others
Creates a development environment by seeking and providing feedback to assist self/employee development and inspire confidence among non-financially literate members of staff
Excellent communication skills including the ability to present, explain and influence people at all levels
The ability to think strategically and act pro-actively where necessary to ensure that WRAP is achieving the highest standards of financial control and delivery of its projects
A sound attitude to risk at a time when the scale and nature of the organisation is changing
A willingness to commit to WRAP’s environmental objectives
Education/Qualifications
A recognised professional accountancy qualification
Technical knowledge
Working knowledge of the UK’s political agenda, particularly waste management and environmental challenges
